Welcome,

If you’re reading this, it means that you have found the “beginning” of my new passion project and the ending of a long long procrastination period. I say beginning because this has been in the works for over a year.

Challenges

It’s taken me a year to actually put this blog site to use because I was shooting for the stars and got lost in the deep dark space.

I had a lot of big plans, dreams, and aspirations for this site, I wanted to share recipes weekly and curate cool food events to invite you to. Fact is, I’ve been too busy and tired over the past year to even care about what I’m cooking at home. From being broke and down on myself to training in a restaurant kitchen for the first time, life’s been kicking my butt in a myriad of ways. My mental, emotional, and physical capacity has been put to test rigorously but now I’m finally ready to spend time on a passion project (yay capitalism).

Sorry for the lies

I’ve been asked to share my recipes multiple times since Brian and I started working on this website. I would always promise to send a link to a recipe and guess what? I barely have drafts. I’ve been procrastinating sharing my recipes because I want to test them out first. I want to make detailed notes, and give you recipes that aren’t just easy to follow but also easy to modify based on your diets and palates. If you’ve ever asked me for a recipe, please know that I lied. I’m off the rails (in a good way) with my cooking, which means I constantly forget to write down the ingredients and measurements. I’m working on not doing that moving forward while I work on remembering and testing old recipes.

Be my accountability buddy?

My solution to end this procrastination period was to tell you about it. After all, my intention with this website is to build a community and I think sharing my challenges is a great way to do that. I’m also struggling so much with taking pictures of things I cook because I want them to always be print magazine level perfect (or I’m simply too hungry and tired to document while cooking). I’m taking the pressure off of myself by letting you know that some pictures might be missing or not appealing to look at while I get this blog going. But I promise you, I will update my old posts and refine my process with every new post as time goes by.

On the menu

Outside of some fun recipes, you’ll find stories about my experiences working in restaurant/cafe kitchens, and insights from failed experiments in my own kitchen. It is also my dream to plan and invite you to food events where you can try something new, pick up some skills, support good causes, and make good friends over some good food (with Loob).

Last but not the least, I promise to not include any of this extra chit chat in my recipe posts. The recipes I share shall remain utilitarian and only contain details that you want and/or need.

Welcome to my little community. If you’d like to get some fun recipes and stories sent your way, subscribe to the newsletter.

Hope to see you around.
